Last Saturday, the HFL Youth B and C cheer teams traveled to Newark for the NYS Cheerleading Championship. The C-team took the floor in the morning session showing off their great tumbling and stunting skills.  They received a 2^nd place score for the day.  The girls did an amazing job and are looking forward to the league competition this Saturday.

The B-team performed in the afternoon session.  During the warm-up time an injury occurred.  The girls were very upset and a little down in the dumps.  When it came time to hit the competition mat, the girls were high-spirited and ready for competition. They performed amazingly, and walked away with a 1^st place trophy! The injured cheerleader, Alyssa Lewis, deserves an MVP trophy. Alyssa was hit in the nose by an elbow during practice.  She was seen by a medic and was told it was up to her if she wanted to compete.  She never gave it a second thought.  There was no way she was going to sit out!  At the end of the day Alyssa’s mom took her to the emergency room, where they told her that she had a broken nose.

The HFL Youth Flag cheerleaders performed their routine in front of a large crowd at the HFL Cheer Competition.  The girls opened the competition for the HFL JV and Varsity cheerleaders and showed those big girls that little cheerleaders are just as loud and talented!  Way to go!
