The HFL Cougars C Team continued their winning ways in a 38-14 win over the visiting Jr. Scots from Dundee. HFL jumped out to an early lead, and scored several times late to end an attempted comeback by their gritty opponents from Dundee.

Hayden Meehan opened the Cougars scoring on a 1 yard run in the first quarter. Brody Young passed to Brandon Levine for the extra point, making it 7-0. After holding Dundee, Brody Young then followed up with a touchdown pass to JT Killenbec for the next Cougar score. Zach Meacham added to the Cougar lead with a touchdown run in the second quarter. Despite Dundee battling back, the Cougars up-tempo offense was just too much for them. With six seconds left in the half, Brody Young connected again with a touchdown pass to JT Killenbec, putting HFL up 26-7 at the half.

The HFL C team defense then took over, squelching any hopes of a Dundee comeback. The defense would allow one more Dundee score in the third, but that would be all the scoring the Jr. Scots would muster on the day. With two minutes left in the third quarter, JT Killenbec took a long run down the sideline to put the Cougars up 32-12.

HFL’s swarming team defense repeatedly came up big, stopping all Dundee attempts to move the ball. Brody Young put an exclamation point on the HFL scoring with a long QB keeper touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to make it 38-12. Dundee showed tenacity, however, and refused to give up the fight. The Jr. Scots’ determined running took the ball down to the Cougar’s 5 yard line, but turned the ball over on a fumble. Following the turnover, Dundee fought back, pinning the Cougars offense into its own end zone for a safety and two points.

Dundee had one more chance to score, but was shut down by a fierce HFL defense that iced the game at 38-14 for the Cougars. The HFL C Team hosts Penn Yan in their next FLYFCL contest on Sunday 9/22 at 10:00 AM.
