Cougars Shutout in 32-0 Home Loss

The Pittsford Panthers convincingly won the battle of the big cats against the HFL Cougars on Sunday, winning 32-0. Pittsford’s superior team speed and well-executed offensive game plan were too much for the B Team to overcome. Coming into this contest, the Cougars B Team was undefeated and had not previously given up a point in this year’s young FLYFCL season.

On the opening drive, HFL looked as if it might have success on the day running the ball, as the Cougars went on a grinding 8 minute drive, taking the ball deep into Pittsford territory. The Panthers stout defense came on strong in the red zone, forcing the ball over on downs. The Pittsford offense struck quickly, taking the very first handoff to pay dirt on a long TD run down the sideline for the first score of the game. There was no looking back for the Panthers, as their highly effective misdirection running attack had the Cougars defenders on their heels most of the game.

HFL seemed to gain momentum running the ball steadily on some drives behind a good push from their offensive line, but Pittsford’s stingy, hard-hitting defense was more than up for the task of stopping HFL’s balanced running attack. Pittsford’s Ben DiGiovanni (#13) had an exceptional game for the Panthers, leading the team on offense and defense on the day.

The Cougars made some notable plays on defense, mainly led by DL Jon Kabes. Kabes had several sacks and tackles for losses. Also chipping in with standout plays on defense for the Cougars were Christian Coler, Jake Easton, Colt Green, Mason Ferrara, Turner Wilson, and Hayden Smith.

The B Team Cougars look to get back to their winning ways when they host Dundee on Sunday, September 15 at 12:00PM.
