The C-Team Cougars continued their unbeaten streak with a convincing 25-7 win over Seneca Falls at home on Sunday. After exchanging quick first-quarter touchdowns, the Cougars would buckle down on defense and slow a very impressive Seneca Falls running attack. Seneca Falls’ running back Santana had a very good day, displaying power and finesse in a valiant effort to put points on the board. A formidable Cougars defense would not relent, however, and would prove to be too strong an opponent on this day.

Following the early SF score, the Cougars C-Team time and again gang tackled the Blue Devils for losses. Jake Easton, Matthew Blythe, Patrick Lustyk, and Colt Green’s names were called often as the piles on top of the SF ball carriers cleared. A game-changing break in momentum was delivered on a fantastic defensive play in which Reece Joint intercepted an errant pitch in the SF backfield for a change in possession early in the second quarter. Following a long Patrick Lustyk run, E. Mason Wanzenreid took a QB keeper in for the score to put the Cougars on top 13-7.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Cougars found their success once again through the strong outside running of Peter Romig, Wyatt Hayes and Patrick Lustyk, all of whom had long runs or touchdowns on the day. Jack Graney and Nathan Ross had strong days providing blocking up front for the Cougar ball carriers. The tale of the second half was the suffocating Cougars defense, which would shut out all SF scoring chances in the second half. Cade Ratliff, Jake Easton, Christian Coler, and Jason Hoffman all put in stellar second half efforts on defense, deliver big hits and timely stops.

The Cougars go on the road to Marcus Whitman to battle the Wildcats next Sunday, September 30th at 10:00AM.
